Welcome to the Wolf Corporation Website
We hope your experience here is both interesting and rewarding. Much has happened in this company in the time before your arrival and we thought it would be appropriate to bring you up to date.
Wolf was founded in Fort Wayne Indiana in 1873, started by Paul Wolf, an enterprising orphan from Germany. He found work as an upholsterer and began a string of businesses with his sons that only ended his death in the early 20th century.
Two of his sons, Erwin and Robert continued the mattress and fiber insulation business that had literally grown up in the backyard of the family farm on what was the outskirts of Fort Wayne. In the 1920’s Erwin Wolf patented the method of edge anchoring the quilted top of a mattress that led to our success during the Great Depression and the Second World War. With the end of the war Erwin’s sons, Richard and Donald joined the company and a new round of growth and change occurred. The old factory had grown from the farm operation to a large cluster of buildings still on the original site of what was by then downtown Fort Wayne.
In the 70’s Tony Wolf, Richards son and Steve Wolf, Donald’ son came to work for Wolf and the company and the economy began a slow but generally progressive move through the 80’s. In 1988 the company relocated the factory to a new and larger facility on the city’s eastern outskirts. The new factory increased the size of operations and Wolf doubled its size in the 90’s. Throughout this time Wolf Corporation continued to seek new markets and add to the technical know how already within the company. As we grew we began to expand our market reach through various new and creative means. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the products we make and the customers we serve.
Today we find the company actively involved in the development better and more earth friendly methods of manufacture along with new components to meet the needs of a sustainable future.
